Ronald Wilders, PhD
"Dynamic action-potential clamp to investigate bio-pacemaker activity"
Assistant Professor of Physiology, Academic Medical Centre, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Dr. Ronald Wilders received his MSc degree (cum laude) in Applied Mathematics and, subsidiary, Physics from the University of Amsterdam in 1985. During 6 years (1985-1991) he taught Physics and Mathematics at the 'Goois Lyceum'. In 1988, he joined the Department of Physiology of the Academic Medical Centre (AMC) at the University of Amsterdam as a (part-time) research fellow, where he completed his research project with a PhD degree (cum laude) in 1993. After completing two postdoc projects in the Department of Medical Physiology of the University Medical Center Utrecht he rejoined the AMC Department of Physiology as an Assistant Professor in 2000. Currently, he is involved in several research projects on cardiac cellular electrophysiology that include in-silico and in-vitro experiments and combinations thereof. As a Faculty Member, he is also responsible for a broad range of educational courses for (honours) students in Medicine or related areas.
