Welcome!

Dear Colleagues,

You are kindly invited to attend the second edition of the workshop Frontiers in Computational Electrocardiology (FiCE 2009) that will take place in the historical heart of Maastricht, The Netherlands on October 1, 2009.

The FiCE 2009 workshop is jointly organized by the Department of Cardiology, Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht, Maastricht University Medical Centre and the Department of Knowledge Engineering, Maastricht University.

Computational techniques play an ever increasing role in the fields of Cardiology and Electrophysiology. In 2008 Maastricht University hosted the first edition of FiCE, a one-day workshop in which eminent and promising investigators from Europe and the United States presented their views on the current opportunities and future challenges of computer modeling in electrocardiology.

The focus of FiCE 2009 lies on electropharmacology and the speakers, which include clinicians, basic scientists and representatives from academia and industry from both The Netherlands and abroad, will discuss the possibilities and challenges of pharmacological interventions to alter and control the cardiac rhythm as well as illustrate how quantitative approaches can aid our understanding of pharmacological effects.

Apart from the workshop, a dinner is organized on the evening of October 1st, for which you can register. This social event creates an extra opportunity for interaction with the speakers and other participants of the workshop.

Registration for the workshop and/or the dinner is possible at the website Frontiers in Computational Electrocardiology (see registration page).

Please note that there are only a limited number of 70 seats available for the workshop. More information regarding the program, registration, and venue of the workshop can be found via the different links located at the top of this website.

We look forward to welcoming you in Maastricht on October 1,

The organizers,

Paul Volders and Ronald Westra
